Yerrinbool

Yerrinbool, Aboriginal word for Wood Duck.

13 July 1919 saw Yerrinbool Railway Station and Aylmerton Station (now closed) open on the new Southern Railway Line.

With a new rail line and station operating, the village was laid out and land sales began. Now the quaint village has a community of approximately 1,160, utilising the modernised railway station to Sydney and southern destinations.

Tennessee Orchard on the northern outskirts is a longterm apple orchard and where local fresh produce can be purchased in season is a local attraction.

The village is located 1km to the freeway and 10minutes drive north of Mittagong.

Local amenities include;

Community Hall, Yerrinbool Oval and Rural Fire Service, Yerrinbool Oval, Bahai Religious School and natures reserves.
